titleOfInvention Preparation of unsaturated aldehyde
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an α,β-unsaturated aldehyde easily, by rearranging a dienyl ether as a raw material derived from an acetal of a relatively unsaturated aldehyde and a saturated alcohol under heating. n CONSTITUTION: A dienyl ether expressed by formula[R 1 WR 4 are H, or 1W20C hydrocarbon residue; R 5 is formula II (R 6 WR 8 are H or 1W40C satrated hydrocarbon residue)], e.g. dihydrocitral of formula III or phytyl aldehyde of formula IV, as a raw material is rearranged under heating to give an α,β-unsaturated aldehyde expressed by formula V. The reaction is preferably carried out in the presence of an acidic catalyst, e.g. hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. The reaction temperature is 200W500°C, preferably 220W450°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
