abstract NEW MATERIAL:(2S,4S)-2-(Anilinomethyl)-1-ethyl-4-hydroxypyrrolidine of formulaI. n USE: An optically active catalyst causing high asymmetry induction: this compound is very effective in synthesis of optically active β-arylthio or β-alkylthioketone by the asymmetric Michael addition reaction of a thiol to a cyclic α,β-unsaturated ketone. n PREPARATION: (2S,4S)-4-Acetoxy-1-acetylproline anilide of formula II is heated in the presence of lithium aluminum hydride in an inert gas atmosphere to give the compound of formulaI. The compound of formula II is obtained (without racemization) by using L-4-hydroxyproline, a naturally occurring aminoacid, of formula III, as a starting substance through a 7-staged process. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
