titleOfInvention Liquid identifying method
abstract PURPOSE:To enable identifying of liquid to be identified having a low refractive index and detecting of water solution concentration, by using an optical transmission path in which transparent liquid is implanted into a clear pipe to form a core. CONSTITUTION:An optical transmission path 1 is constituted such that a clad 2 consists of an air layer, and clear liquid is implanted into a clear pipe 3 to form said liquid into a core 4. Light is transmitted through the core 4, and if liquid 5 to be identified is adhered to the outer periphery of the clear pipe 3 or said pipe 1 is eroded by said liquid 5, a clad 2 works in place of the liquid 5 to be identified, and strength of light outputted from the jet end of the core 4 changes to identify the type and concentration of the liquid 5 to be identified from said change. The refractive index distribution such that, since the refractive index of the core 4 is larger than that of the clad 2 due to an air layer, light is transmitted at the inside of the optical transmission path 1, but if the clad 2 produces the liquid to be identified, the refractive index of the liquid 5 to be identified is larger than that of the core 4, light leaks from the core 4 to the liquid 5 to be identified, and this causes changing of a strength of light outputted from the jet end of the core 4.
