titleOfInvention Production of 3,5-dichlorobenzamide
abstract PURPOSE: 5-Chloro-isophthaloyl chloride, which is readily derived from iso- phthaloyl chloride by chlorination, is subjected to partial decarbonylation and converted into amide, thus producing the titled compound useful as an intermediate of chemicals for agricultural purposes such as herbicide. n CONSTITUTION: 5-Cchloro-isophthaloyl chloride is subjected to decarbonylation, preferably at 200W450°C to form 3,5-dichlorobenzoyl chloride. Then, the chloride is converted into an amide at a temperature lower than 50°C, preferably -10W +30°C to give the objective 3,5-dichlorobenzamide. n EFFECT: The process is simplified. n USE: Flame retarder or for other purposes. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
