titleOfInvention Preparation of l-alpha-methylphenylalanine
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound, by reacting a DL-methylphenylalaninamide with a cultivated microrganism capable of producing amidase or a substance obtained by treating it so that the amide is hydrolyzed asymmetrically. n CONSTITUTION: A DL-α-methylphenylalaninamide shown by the formulaI(R 1 and R 2 are the same or different, H, lower alkyl, etc.) as a substrate is reacted with a cultivated microorganism capable of producing amidase or a substance obtained by treating it. A fungus belonging to the genus Rhizopus, Absidia, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Trichoderma, or an actinomyces belonging to the genus Nocardia, etc. may be cited as the microorganism. In methods to react the amide with the microorganism, the amide is treated with the microorganism in the form of a culture, separated mold, an enzyme separated from the culture, extracted solution containing enzume, etc. Asymmetrically hydrolyzed L-α- methylphenylalanine is separated by fractionating crystallization, solvent extraction etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
