titleOfInvention | Preparation of alkali copper chlorophyllin solution |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled salt solution of high purity easily at a low cost, by treating a leaf of a plant with a solution of copper sulfate, adding a caustic alkali to the treated solution, hydrolyzing the solution, adding calcium hydroxide to the solution, and precipitating calcium copper chlorophyllin. n CONSTITUTION: A raw leaf of a plant, e.g. sponge gourd (Luffa cylindrica Roem.) or veitch SASA (Sasa albo-marginate makino et Shibata) containing a large amount of chlorophyll is stirred in a solution of copper sulfate in an amount of (1/10 3 )W(2/10 3 ) based on the chlorophyll contained in the leaf or equal amount of water-soluble cupric salt under heating to give copper chlorophyll. A caustic alkali in an amount of (1/10 2 )W (2/10 2 ) based on the raw material is then added thereto to form a solution of an alkali in a concentration of 1W2% and a pH of 12W13, which is stirred under heating to give an alkali copper chlorophyllin. Calcium hydroxide in an amount of (1/10 2 )W(25/10 2 ) based on the raw material is added to the liquid portion to precipitate the calcium copper chlorophyllin. The resultant precipitate is then separated from the liquid portion and made into a paste with a small amount of water and adjusted to a pH of 3.3W3.5 with a dilute hydrochloric acid and precipitate copper chlorophyllin. The separated precipitate is then neutralized with a dilute solution of a caustic alkali to give the aimed solution. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
