titleOfInvention Production of permselective membrane
abstract PURPOSE: To produce an anisotropic permselective membrane which exhibits uniform performance over a wide area by casting doping liquid on a porous substrate and drying the same partially then solidifying the same by using an aq. soln. of high osmotic pressure. n CONSTITUTION: The dope prepd. by adding 1pt.wt. polybenzimidazolone, 0.40pt. wt. LiCl, and 0.30pt.wt. Ca(NO 3 ) 2 4H 2 O to 5.1pts.wt. N-methylpyrolidone and mixing and dissolving these is cast at 300μ thickness on a nonwoven polyester fabric of 2cm 3 /cm 2 sec air permeability. After this film-like material is dried by hot wind for 5min at 120°C, it is dipped for 30min in an aq. 20wt% NaClsoln. of 240kg/cm 2 osmotic pressure, whereby it is solidified. The resultant membrane does not show "water blistering" phenomena at all, and exhibits the reverse osmosis performance of 65l/m 2 hr water permeation rate and 96.5% salt removal rate. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
