titleOfInvention Preparation of aromatic polyester polycarbonate resin
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled resin by evaporating and concentration a methylene chloride solution of a resin having a specific structural unit and obtained by the polycondensation of a dihydroxydiaryl compound, terephthaloyl chloride, etc. and phosgene, at a specific rate of evaporation, thereby easily pulverizing the resin and removing the methylene chloride. n CONSTITUTION: A dilute methylene chloride solution of an aromatic polyester polycarbonate resin having the structural units of formulaIand formula II (X is divalent group; aromatic nucleus may have substituent group) is prepared by the polycondensation of an alkaline aqueous solution of a dihydroxydiaryl compoud, a methylene chloride solution of tere(and/or iso)phthaloyl chloride, and phosgene. The dilute solution is washed to attain a resin concentration of 3W10wt%, and gelatinized by evaporating methylene chloride (the rate of evaporation of methylene chloride is maintained to 1W5kg/hr per 1kg of the resin in the methylene chloride solution at normal pressure and 40W150°C and at a resin cncentration of 20W35%). The gel is crushed, and the methylene chloride is removed by the thermal drying to obtain the objective resin. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
