abstract | NEW MATERIAL:The titled derivatives of formula I (at least one of R 1 , R 2 is halogen or phthalimide and the rest is H; M is H, alkali metal). n EXAMPLE: 6β-Phthalimidepenicillanic acid-1,1-dioxide. n USE: β-Lactamase inhibitor: for example, when they are used in the combination with a β-lactam antibiotic such as penicilline, they can increase the antibiotic activity of β-lactam antibiotics against microorganisms producing β-lactamase such as Citrobacter. n PREPARATION: A penicillanic derivative of formula II such as 6β-phthalimidepenicillanic acid is treated with an oxidizing agent such as a permanganate, preferably in an amount of 1.2W2mol based on the compound at a temperature near 0°C, as the pH of the reaction system is controlled near the neutral using a buffer solution. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
