abstract PURPOSE: To provide a titled emulsifier by which aqueous emulsions of high viscosities and good standing stability, etc. are obtained by consisting the same of a copolymer of vinyl ester and/or (meth)acrylic alkyl ester and an ethylenic unsatd. monomer contg. a sulfonic acid group. n CONSTITUTION: This is formed of the copolymer of vinyl ester (e.g.; vinyl acetate) and/or (meth)acrylic alkyl ester (e.g.; methyl ester) (monomer A) and an ethylenic unsatd. monomer contg. the sulfonic acid group expressed by the formula (monomer B). For example, there is N-hydroxyethyl-N-sodium sulfopropyl acrylamide as the monomer B. This emulsifier is produced by copolymerizing the monomer A and the monomer B in an alcohol solvent. A method of dropping a resin in the form of soln. or melt into an aq. soln. of this emulsifier and stirring the mixture is used for preparing an aqueous emulsion by using this emulsifier. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
