titleOfInvention Preparation of n-acylcarnosine
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a drug, in high yield and purity, by reacting a reactive derivative of 3-acylaminopropionic acid with a histidine ester, and hydrolyzing the resultant N-acylcarnosine ester. n CONSTITUTION: The N-acylcarnosine of formuls IV is prepared by (1) reacting (A) a reactive derivative of 3-acylaminopropionic acid of formulaI(R is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; X is reactive derivative group of carboxylic acid, e.g. Cl, -O- S(=O) 2 -OH, etc.) obtained by treating 3-acylaminopropionic acid with a proper reagent for activating carboxylic acid, e.g. thionyl chloride, anhydrous sulfuric acid, etc. with (B) a histidine ester of formula II (R" is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl), and (2) hydrolyzing the resultant N-acylcarnosine ester of formula III. n EFFECT: The condensation reagent is also inexpensive and safe. n USE: Drug having strong suppressing effect to the peripheral system of the cerebrum. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
