abstract | PURPOSE: The titled coating compsn. consisting mainly of an aqueous dispersion of a hydrophobic resin and a hydrophilic resin with a high acid value and being excellent in luster and stability. n CONSTITUTION: The titled compsn. consists mainly of an aqueous dispersion of a resin obtained by reacting a basic substance with a mixt. of (A) a water-insol. acrylic resin with an acid value of <10 and a hydroxyl value of 30W300, (B) a water-soluble or dispersible acrylic resin with an acid value of 15W30 and a hydroxyl value of 50W300 and (C) an amino-plast resin and/or phenol-formaldehyde resin in such blend ratios that A/B is 20/80W80/20 and A+B/C is 60/40W 90/5 by wt. The basic substance is used in an amount sufficient to neutralize 80W100mol% of total carboxyl groups in the three components. The low acid value of the hydrophilic high-acid value resin makes it possible to reduce the particle size of the aqueous dispersion to <0.5μ and coating compsn. with high luster and excellent stability is obtained. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
