titleOfInvention Modified alkyd resin based on tall oil fatty acid for coating
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the titled alkyd resin having excellent low-temperature dryability and stable cost, by reacting a tall oil fatty acid with an aldehyde in the presence of an acidic catalyst, and distilling the reacting product. n CONSTITUTION: A tall oil fatty acid is mixed first with preferably 0.03W1(mol)% acidic catalyst (e.g. sulfuric acid), and then mixed and reacted with preferably 1W20% aldehyde (e.g. formaldehyde). The reaction product is distilled to obtain a material based on tall oil fatty acid. The objective alkyd resin is prepared by using the material as at least a part of the modifying oil component. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
