PURPOSE: To prepare a yellow pigment resistant to green discoloration, easily at a low cost, by adsorbing crocin from the extract liquid of the fruit of Cape jasmine with a synthetic adsorbent resin, thereby separating the pigment from the substance causing the green discoloration. n CONSTITUTION: Fruits of Cape jasmine are extracted with water or an alcohol, and the extract liquid is brought into contact with a porous synthetic adsorbent resin having intermediate polarity[e.g. (meth)acrylate polymer]by column chromatography to effect the selective adsorption of crocin. The ylidoide glycoside composed mainly of non-adsorptive geniposide is removed by washing with an alcohol, and the objective crocin is eluted from the adsorbent resin with a water-containing organic solvent. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
