titleOfInvention Long-chain fatty acid lactol
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A long-chain fatty acid lactol expressed by the formula (R is hexadecyl, 6,9-eicosadienyl, 6,9,12-docosatrienyl or 3,6,9,12-dicosatetraenyl). n EXAMPLE: 4-Hexadecyl-2-hydroxy-2-methyl-5-oxo-2,5-dihydrofuran. n USE: A multiplication inhibitor of granulation tissues and inhibitor of superoxide production useful as an anti-inflammatory agent. n PROCESS: Euplexaura flave (Nutting) is extracted with an organic solvent, e.g. methanol, alcohol, acetone or acetic acid or a mixture thereof or a mixed solvent with water, and the resultant extract is then concentrated. The resultant concentrate is then subjected to the well-known isolating means for natural products, i.e. distribution difference between tow kinds of liquid phases, difference in affinity for various adsorbents, solubility difference in a suitable solvent, difference in deposition speed, etc. to isolate and purity the respective compounds of the formula. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
