titleOfInvention Friction material composition
abstract PURPOSE:The titled composition that contains inorganic fiber, pulp of p-oriented aromatic polyamide polymer, a specific solid lubricant and aromatic polyamide fiber in a specific proportion, thus showing high wearing resistance without fading. CONSTITUTION:(A) 5-70wt% of inorganic fiber and/or inorganic powder, preferably in case of fiber, L/D is more than 5 where L is length and D is diameter and the diameter is 0.1-50mum: in case of particle, particle size is less than 500mum, such as glass fiber, (B) 5-70wt% of pulp of p-oriented aromatic polyamide polymer containing more than 80mol% structural units of formulaIand II such as poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide, (C) 1-30wt% of a solid lubricant such as carbon fiber, carbon black or graphite powder and (D) 2-50wt% of aromatic polyamide fiber, preferably of 0.2-20filament denier and 0.5-50mm. fiber length are added and bound with a thermosetting resin to give the objective composition. EFFECT:The resultant composition generates no strange noises and shows high mechanical strength, when applied to brakes.
