titleOfInvention Pyrazine derivative
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A pyrazine derivative expressed by formula I (R is hydroxy, lower alkoxyl or amino; X is H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxyl or halogen; n is 1 or 2). n EXAMPLE: 5-(4-Chlorophenyl)pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid. n USE: An agricultural and horticultural germicide exhibiting a remarkable controlling effect particularly on bacterial leaf blight of rice plants. n PROCESS: A compound expressed by formula II is hydrolyzed in the presence of a base and a peroxide in water solvent to give a compound expressed by formula I-c, which is then heated with an alcohol in the presence of an acid catalyst in an inert solvent to afford a compound expressed by formula I-b (R' is alkyl). The resultant compound expressed by formula I-b is then reacted with ammonia to give a compound expressed by formula I-a. Alternatively, the compound expressed by formula II is hydrolyzed in the presence of a base to give the compound expressed by formula I-a. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
