titleOfInvention | Alpha-methylthio(1-alkyl-2-pyrrolyl)acetamide derivative |
abstract | NEW MATERIAL:The α-methylthio(1-alkyl-2-pyrrolyl)acetamide derivative of formulaI(R is lower alkyl; Y is H or methylthio; R 1 and R 2 are methyl or together with N atom form a ring). n EXAMPLE: N,N-Dimethyl-α-methylthio(1-methyl-2-pyrrolyl)acetamide. n USE: Raw material of tolmetin useful as an antiphlogistic agent and analgesic agent. n PROCESS: The compound of formulaIwherein Y is methylthio can be prepared e.g. by (1) reacting the 1-alkylpyrrole with the acid chloride of formula III, and (2) reacting the resultant (1-alkyl-2-pyrrolyl)glyoxylic acid amide derivative of formula IV with emthanethiol or its active derivative in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst. The product can be converted to another compound of formulaIwherein Y is H by the reducive desulfurization. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
