titleOfInvention Preparation of copper phthalocyanine
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain high-quality, high-purity copper phthalocyanine in a high yield, by the reaction of phthalic anhydride or phthalimide, urea and a copper compd. in the presence of a catalyst by use of sulfolane as a solvent. n CONSTITUTION: In the preparation of copper phthalocyanine by the reaction of phthalic anhydride or phthalimide, urea or a deriv. thereof, and a copper compd. in the presence of a catalyst, sulfolane or a deriv. thereof is used as a reaction solvent. A titanium compd. such as titanium tetrachloride is pref. as the catalyst. Cuprous chloride, cupric chloride and copper sulfate are pref. used as the copper compd. sufficiently in an amt. of 0.25 atom in terms of copper, based on the phthalic anhydride or phthalimide. The obtd. copper phthalocyanine gives a clearly reddish copper phthalocyanine with high coloring power and can be ground in a reduced time when converted into a pigment. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
