abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film useful for metal vaporization, printed circuit boards, electrical insulation excellent in heat resistance, transparency, flexibility by a method wherein after specific total aromatic polyester is melted and extruded, it is oriented biaxially and fixed thermally at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:Total aromatic playester having a isophthalic residual groups as the main acid component, and (1) hydroquinone residual groups and (2) substituent hydroquinone residual groups as the main diol component is melted, extruded and oriented at 180-250 deg.C by 1.5 or more times in the direction of the mechanical axis of the film and in the direction rectangular to said axis. Then, it is heated and fixed at 230 deg.C or more and at a temperature lower than the melting point of said polyester to obtain biaxially oriented polyester film having Young's moduls and strength which are respectively 100kg/mm.<2> or more and 7kg/ mm.<2> or more at the room temperature in the direction of the mechanical axis and in the direction rectangular to said axis. |
