titleOfInvention | Manufacture of flash discharge tube |
abstract | PURPOSE:To improve the manufacture efficiency of a flash discharge tube, which is constituted by sealing both ends of a glass tube with metal caps and by charging the glass tube with a rare gas. CONSTITUTION:Intermediate glass rings 1 and 1' are made by subjecting mixture, which is prepared by stirring both liquid paraffin and a glass powder with a thermal expansion coefficient of 43X10<-7>, to press molding by means of a metal mold. After the above intermediate glass rings 1 and 1' are placed on metal caps 3 and 3' made of copal metal with a thermal expansion coefficient of 46X 10-7, a tungsten glass tube 5 with a thermal expansion coefficient of 39X10<-7> is installed between the rings 1 and 1'. After that, the glass tube 5 is exhausted by means of an exhaust gas device, is charged with a rare gas and is heated with a heating device so as to make the rings 1 and 1' to be molten and to make the metal caps 3 and 3' to be fused to the tube 5. Thus, a flash discharge tube is completed as indicated in the figure. |
