titleOfInvention | Production of high-polymerization degree polyester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To produce a high-polymerization degree polyester, by reacting an aromatic polyester with a specified biscycloimino ester compound in the presence of a low-MW compound unreactive with the aromatic polyester. n CONSTITUTION: There is used a biscyclomino ester compound of formulaI, wherein Y is a bivalent hydrocarbyl, X is a bivalent hydrocarbyl unreactive under the reaction conditions, and 1 is 0 or 1, or of formula II, wherein A is a group of formula III, wherein R 2 is a monovalent hydrocarbyl or of formula IV, wherein R is a tetravalent aromatic group and R 1 is a monovalent hydrocarbyl, e.g., 2,2'-bis(3,1-bezoxazine-4-one). Namely, an aromatic polyester having a terminal hydroxyl group (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate) is reacted with about 0.01W5wt%, based on the polyester, said biscycloimino ester in the presence of a low-molecular compound unreactive with the aromatic polyester and having a MW of below 1,000 and a b.p. of above 200°C, e.g., nitrobenzene. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
