titleOfInvention Production of single crystal of piezoelectric oxide
abstract PURPOSE: A wet mixture including a lithium salt is dried and sintered and the product is melted as a starting material, then, the single crystal is pulled up from the melted liquid to produce impurity-free single crystal of piezoelectric oxide in high yield. n CONSTITUTION: A lithium salt such as lithium hydroxide, lithium chloride, lithium sulfate or lithium chlorate and an oxide such as tantalum pentoxide or niobium pentoxide are mixed in an aqueous medium, dried and sintered. The sintered product is melted in a crucible with heat and a single crystal of piezoelectric oxide such as LiTaO 3 or LiNbO 3 is drawn up from the melted liquid. The present process permits the use of the starting material of less fluctuation in the composition, improves the quality of the single crystal of the lithium-containing piezoelectric oxide and increases the product yield. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
