titleOfInvention | Selective permeable membrane for separating gas |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a selective permeable membrane for separation of gas which is high in permeability to oxygen, excellent in selectivity for permeation of oxygen and enhanced in capability to form an extra thin film by constituting a membrane of a polymer which consists of modified poly(p-phenyleneoxide). n CONSTITUTION: The membrane is constituted mainly of a polymer in which at least 50mol% of the total amount of repeating units consists of p-phenyleneoxide units of the formula. The membrane is prepared by molding the polymer into a desired shape such as a flat film, hollow fibers or the like by a known method of molding a thermoplastic resin. The membrane thus obtained is incorporated in a device for producing oxygen-enriched air from air and is utilized for increasing the combustion efficiency of an engine or the like, an incubator for premature infants, an artificial lung, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
