titleOfInvention Recording paper
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a recording paper being excellent in resistance to light, water, etc. and having no self-color-developing property, by using a new fluoran derivative as a color-developing agent for pressure-sensitive or heat-sensitive recording paper. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by general formulaI(wherein R<1> and R<2> are 1-10C alkyl, alkenyl, etc., or -(CH2)P- or the like may be formed from R<1> and R<2>; z is hydrogen, alkyl, halogen, etc.; m is 1-4; ring A is benzene, naphthalene, etc.) is halogenated and then condensed through dehydration with a phenolic derivative shown by formula II (wherein R<3> and R<4> are 1-6C alkyl, alkoxy, etc.; R<5> is hydrogen, alkyl, etc.; Y<1> and Y<2> are hydrogen, 1-8C alkyl, etc.), whereby the fluoran derivative shown by formula III (wherein one of X<1> and X<2> is halogen, and the other is hydrogen) is obtained. By using at least one of color- developing agents thus obtained, together with another color-developing agent, if necessary, pressure-sensitive or heat-sensitive recording paper is prepared according to a conventional method.
