abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare a polyester having increased melt viscosity and giving pilling resistant fibers having excellent spinnability and drawability, by mixing hectorite intimately to polyalkylene terephthalate. n CONSTITUTION: A polyalkylene terephthalate is intimately mixed with 0.1W 10wt% hectorite, by adding an alkylene glycol slurry of hectorite before the completion of the polymerization in the preparation of polyester by the polycondensation of bishydroxyalkyl terephthalate and/or its oligomer.
