NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formulaI(R is H or sulfonic group; X is iodine atom), its salt or ester. n EXAMPLE: Disodium salt of (5R,6R)-3-(2-acetamido-1-iodoethenylsulfinyl)-6-(2-hydroxysulfonyloxy-2-propyl)-7-oxo-1-azabicyclo[3,2,0]hepto-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid. n USE: An antibacterial agent. Having antibacterial activity and β-lactamase inhibiting action, and high stability in a living body. n PROCESS: A compound shown by the formula II or its salt or ester is reacted with an iodinating agent (e.g., I 2 , ICl) to give a compound shown by the formulaI.
