abstract PURPOSE:To obtain copying paper which is manufactured by applying an electron dative color-former consisting of a specified fluoran compound on a supporting material, forms dark green in high concentration when contacting with acidc substance and provides a picture having excellent light resisting and water resisting properties. CONSTITUTION:A fluoran compound according to a formula III is obtained by reacting 2-(4, 5-diamino-2-hydroxybnzoyl)benzoic derivative according to a formula I and a phenol derivative according to a formula II (R1-8 are H, low alkyl, cyclohexyl, or phenyl which may be substituted for low alkyl, low alkoxy or halogen, alpha- naphthyl, benzyl, alpha-naphthyl methyl; it is unnecessary that R1 and R2, R3 and R4, R5 and R6 and R7 and R8 are H simultaneously; A is a benzene ring or a naphthalenering) under the presence of a dehydrating condensing agent. The fluoran compound is applied on a supporting material as an electron dative color- former.
