titleOfInvention Preparation of ribostamycin
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a useful antibiotic having a wide range of antibacterial actions on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, by cultivating a strain capable of producing the titled substance, belonging the genus Moraxella or Pseudomonas, followed by collecting the desired substance from the culture. n CONSTITUTION: Moraxella sp.-BN-245 or Pseudomonas sp.-BN-246 is cultivated in a nutritive substance-containing medium which a bacterium can use ordinarily. The cultivation is carried out by liquid culture, especially deep culture under aerobic conditions at 25W35°C in pH7 for 2W3 days. The isolation and purification of ribomycin is done by using a combination of means usually applicable to the purification of a water-soluble basic antibiotic. For example, after the removal of a mold by centrifugation, etc., the desired substance is adsorbed on Amberlite IRC 50 (NH 4 ), eluted with ammonia water, the eluate is adsorbed on Amberlite CG 50 (NH 4 ), and eluted with ammonia water to give the desired substance. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
