abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A 4-isothiazolin-2-(2',6'-diethylphenyl)-3-one-1,1-dioxide of formula V. n USE: A plant blight control agent having improve control effects particularly on blast of rice plants with very low toxicity to men and cattle and no phytotoxicity to crops recognized. n PROCESS: 3,3'-Dithiodipropionic acid of formula I is reacted with thionyl chloride to give the corresponding acid chloride (formula II), which is then reacted with 2,6- diethylaniline to afford a compound of formula III. The resultant compound of formula III is reacted with a halogenating agent, e.g. a halogen or sulfuryl chloride, to give 2-(2',6'-diethylphenyl)-4-isothizaolin-3-one of formula IV, which is then oxidized with a suitable oxidizing agent to give the compound of formula V. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
