titleOfInvention Manufacture of coloring agent for electrostatic photographic toner
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a clear image of high density by using a copolymer of a specified (meth)acrylate and a monomer such as unsatd. carboxylic acid (anhydride) or glycidyl (meth)acrylate as resin for a coloring agent for a flashing method toner. n CONSTITUTION: A soln. of a copolymer of monomer A represented by the formula (where R is H or CH 3 and n is 1W4) and one or more kinds of monomers B selected from unsatd. carboxylic acid, unsatd. carboxylic anhydride, glycidyl methacrylate and glycidyl acrylate in an org. solvent such as toluene is kneaded with a hydrated cake of carbon black and org. pigment. The kneaded material is then freed of the water and solvent in succession, and the resulting lumps are pulverized to manufacture a coloring agent. This agent is kneaded with a binder and pulverized to manufacture a toner. The pigment particles of the toner are not exposed to the sur face, and the toner is not made too fine. Thus, a favorable image is obtd. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
