abstract NEW MATERIAL:(+)-Trans-4α-ethyl-6, 6-dimethylbicyclo[ 3, 1, 1 ]heptan-2-ylpropionate of formula I. n USE: Cockroach-attracting synthetic agent having similar activity to the sex pheromone. The agent stimulates male cockroaches, entices them from their refuge and makes them move violently around the agent. n PROCESS: The ozone oxidation of a compound of formula II gives a compound of formula III, which is then brominated to give a compound of formula IV. The compound obtained is made to react with 1,8-diazabicyclo[5,4,0]-7-undecene (DBU) to afford a compound of formula V, which is then made to react with (C 2 H 5 ) 2 CuLi in an ether to give a compound of formula VI. The compound of formula VI is made to react with Al(Oi-C 3 H 7 ) 3 in isopropanol to form a compound of formula VII and then with a propionic acid anhydride to give the compound of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
