titleOfInvention Production of 2,4,6-trichloroaniline
abstract PURPOSE: An anilinesulfonic acid is chlorinated in an aqueous inorganic strong acid, whereby the titled compound used as an intermediate of dyes, pigments, or agricultural chemicals is obtained from inexpensive raw materials through simple process in high purity and yield with industrial advantage. n CONSTITUTION: An inexpensive starting material, an anilinesulfonic acid of the formula (A, B are H and at least one of them is sulfone) is chlorinated in an aqueous inorganic strong acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, preferably hydrochloric acid of higher than 10%, especially higher 35% concentration, of sulfuric acid of 25W85%, especially 65W80% concentration, with a chlorine gas or a combination of a chlorine-oxyacid salt and hydrochloric acid to produce 2,4,6- trichloroaniline used as an intermediate of dyes, pigments or agricultural chemicals in high purity and yield. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
