PURPOSE: The reaction between polyhalogenated aromatic compound, carbon monoxide, base, when necessary, alcohol is effected in the presence of a catalyst containing a trasition metal to introduce carboxyls to the halogenated positions, thus producing the title compound in high yield. n CONSTITUTION: The reaction between a polyhalogenated aromatic compound of the formula [X is halogen; Y is halogen, -COOR (R is H, alkyl, aryl); Z is H, alkyl, aryl, cyano, nitro; m is 2W5 and n is 0W3 where m+n ≤5], carbon monoxide, and a base, when necessary an alcohol, is effected in the presence of a catalyst containing a transition metal that is composed of palladium acetate and triphenylphosphine to produce the objective compound. n EFFECT: The reaction rate is accelerated and the selectivity is increased, whereby the formation of by-products such as isomers is remarkably reduced and the deterioration of the catalyst is prevented. n USE: Starting materials of polyamideimide resin and polyimide resins or curing agent for epoxy resins. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
