titleOfInvention Preparation of maleinized polybutadiene-modified alkyd resin
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the titled resin with excellent coating property, capable of being of low viscosity even when high solid content, by the admixture or thermal reaction of an oil-modified alkyd resin of high oil length, with a maleinized polybutadiene resin, in a specified proportion. n CONSTITUTION: (A) An oil-modified alkyd resin of oil length 30W85%, acid value ≤30 and hydroxyl number 0W200, having viscosity of 3W200 poise at 25°C when diluted with xylene to 80±1% of solid content, is obtained by use of an oxidation-polymerizable oil component of iodine value ≥100. (B) A maleinized polybutadiene resin of acid value 20W350, is obtained by addition reaction between a polybutadiene resin of MW 3,000W6,000 and iodine value 400W500, and maleic anhydride or maleic acid. Then purpose resin is prepared by the admixture or thermal reaction of 98W50wt% (as a solid) of the resin (A), with 2W50wt% of the resin (B). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
