titleOfInvention | Preparation of cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as an insecticide, in high efficiency, in single reactor, by reacting dimethylformamide with thionyl chloride, and adding cyclopropanecarboxylic acid and an alcohol as raw materials successively to the reaction system keeping SO 2 generated by the former reaction in the system. n CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I is prepared by reacting dimethylformamide with thionyl chloride. A cyclopropane carboxylic acid of formula II (R 1 is H or methyl; R 2 is methyl, etc.) is made to react with the compound of formula I in the same reactor keeping SO 2 generated by the former reaction in the system. The compound of formula III obtained by the above reaction is made to react with an alcohol of formula R 4 OH (R 4 is group of formula IV, etc.; R 5 is allyl, propargyl, etc.) in the presence of an organic base, pref. in a solvent such as benzene below room temperature, to obtain the objetive compound of formula ×. The amounts of dimethylformamide, thionyl chloride, alcohol and organic base are all more than equimolar to cyclopropanecarboxylic acid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
