abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a reflection preventing film with high endurance even if MgF 2 is vapor deposited at a relatively low temp. by forming a metal layer on an Al 2 O 3 layer and further forming an MgF 2 layer as the uppermost layer. n CONSTITUTION: For example, white plate glass 30 is heated to 200°C and plasma treated under 1×10 -5 Torr, and Al 2 O 3 layer 31, ZrO 2 layer 32, Al 2 O 3 layer 33, Cr layer 34 and MgF 2 layer 35 are vapor deposited with electron beams in order. A reflection preventing film may be formed on a transparent synthetic resin such as a diethylene carbonate lens as follows: SiO 2 layer 51, Al 2 O 3 layer 52, ZrO 2 layer 53, Al 2 O 3 layer 54 and Mo layer 55 are vapor deposited on lens 50 in order by heating with electron beams without especially heating substrate 50, and MgF 2 layer 56 is coated in Ar plasma under 4×10 -5 Torr. Thus, by forming the MgF 2 layer on the combined Al 2 O 3 and metal layers at about 200°C, a reflection preventing film with superior hardness, weather resistance, etc. is obtd. even on such a plastic substrate. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
