titleOfInvention Photographic mordanting layer
abstract PURPOSE:To rapidly harden a photographic mordanting layer consisting of gelatin and a polymer mordant and allow it to retain high transparency even if wetted with water or an alkaline processing soln. by adding a specified compound to the layer. CONSTITUTION:To a photographic mordanting layer contg. gelatin and a polymer mordant is added a compound represented by formula I (where A is represented by formula II, each of R<1> and R<2> is a monovalent residue bonding to the carboxylic acid ester forming N atom through a C or N atom, and R is a di- or trivalent residue bonding to the C atom of the carboxylic acid ester forming carboxyl group through a C or N atom), e.g., the compound of formula III in an amount of about 0.1- 20wt% to the amount of the gelatin. The resulting mordanting layer is dried by a usual method after coating. This layer is effective especially in color diffusion transfer photography, and it has such characteristics as minimize deterioration of a photosensitive material.
