titleOfInvention Preparation of polyester
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a high-strength polyester, excellent in hydrolysis resistance and heat resistance, by the polymerization of a prepolymer, obtained by mixing a polyester with a cyclic carbonate of 1,2-glycol or an monoepoxy compound. n CONSTITUTION: A prepolymer, obtained by mixing, without causing reaction, a fused polyester with a small proportion of a cylic carbonate of 1,2-glycol and/or of an monoepoxy compound, is polymerized in solid phase. The cyclic carbonate of 1,2-glycol is preferablly a cyclic glycol of formula I (wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are H or hydrocarbon group). The monoepoxy compound is preferablly an epoxy compound of formula II. The polyester which is a base material for the prepolymer, is preferably a polyester, primarily composed of ethylene terephthalate or butylene terephthalate of formula III (wherein n is 2 or 4). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
