PURPOSE: To prevent premature vulcanization, in roll milling, in a process before vulcanization or when a rubber hide is left to stand, by the addition of a specified disulfide to a halogen-containing polymer rubber. n CONSTITUTION: Premature vulcanization is prevented by the addition of about 0.1W5pts.wt. of a disulfide of the formula (wherein R is nitro, alkyl or halogen; n is 1W5) as a socorch retardar, to 100pts.wt. of a halogen-containing polymer rubber, such as polychloroprene, polyepichlorohydrin rubber or epichlorohydrinethylene oxide copolymer rubber.
