titleOfInvention Preparation of methylenecycloalkane oligomer
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound, having potential application as an oily liquid and a chemical intermediate, easily, in high yield, by the polymerization of methyleneycloalkane at about normal temp., using new ethylaluminum dichloride as a catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: Methylenecycloalkane (e.g. methylenecyclopentane, methylenecyclohexane or their mixture) is polymerized at ≥-30°C, preferably 0W80°C, using ethylaluminum dichloride as a catalyst to prepare oligomers (from dimers to pentamers) of methylenecycloalkane. Dimers of formula I are mostly formed. The reaction rate, the polymerization degree of low polymers etc. are changed according to the sorts of solvents. E.g. when a halide is used as a solvent, the formation of oligomers having a polymerization degree of ≥3 is increased. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
