PURPOSE: To prepare the titled particles suitable for a gel filtration material, in high reproducibility, by adding an aliphatic higher alcohol to a chlorinated hydrocarbon solution of cellulose triacetate, dispersing the mixtue in an aqueous medium, evaporating the solvent, and saponifying the cellulose triacetate. n CONSTITUTION: Cellulose triacetate is dissolved in a mixed solvent of a chlorinated hydrocarbon and a ≥6C, pref. ≤12C aliphatic higher alcohol, and the solution is dispersed in an aqueous medium to form droplets. The boiling point of the chlorinated hydrocarbon is lower than that of the aqueous medium. The chlorinated hydrocarbon is removed by evaporation (at a temperature between the freezing point of the aqueous medium and the boiling point of the chlorinated hydrocarbon, especially higher than 15°C and lower than the boiling point of the chlorinated hydrocarbon by 2°C). The resulting cellulose acetate containing the aliphatic higher alcohol is saponified and the alcohol is removed from the system to obtain the objective cellulose particles. n EFFECT: The product having desired porosity, threshold molecular weight, and cellulose density can be prepared. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
