titleOfInvention Preparation of phenylhydrazine
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound in extremely high purity useful as a photographic agent, by bringing a mineral acid salt of 2,4,6-trichlorophenylhydrazine into contact with an alkali in the presence of a specific surface active agent in an aqueous medium. n CONSTITUTION: A mineral acid salt of 2,4,6-trichlorophenylhydrazine (abbrev. TCH salt) is brought into contact with an alkali (e.g., NaOH, KOH, etc.,) in an agueous medium at 20W100°C. A nonionic surface active agent (e.g., polyoxyethylene alkyl ether type, etc.) or cationic surface active agent (e.g., quaternary ammonium salt type, etc.) is present in the reaction system to give 2,4,6-trichlorophenylhydrazine. TCH salt as a starting material is obtained by diazotizing 2,4,6- trichloroaniline, reacting the resulting product with acidic sodium sulfite, followed by hydrolyzing the reaction product in the presence of the mineral acid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
