titleOfInvention 2,5-dimethyl-1,5-heptadiene derivative
abstract NEW MATERIAL:2,5-Dimethyl-1,5-heptadiene derivative of formula I (R is H or lower alkanoyl). n EXAMPLE: 2,5-Dimethyl-1,5(E)-heptadien-3-ol. n USE: A compound of formula I (R is a lower alkanoyl group) has sex pheromone activity or the like for coccid of Eriococeinae and is useful as a copulation-inhibiting agent for insects parasitic on the bark of an orchid, a fern, a hemp palm, an apple tree, a peach tree, etc. A compound of formula I (R is H) is a synthetic intermediate of a compound of formula I (R is an alkanoyl group). n PROCESS: For example, 1-bromo-2-methyl-2-butene (formula II) is reacted with methacrolein (formula III) to give the compound of formula I (R is H), and a compound of formula I (R is lower alkanoyl) is prepared by alkanoylation of the product. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
