titleOfInvention Urethane bicycloorthoester
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is lower alkyl; Y is an organic isocyanate residue; n is 1 or 2). n EXAMPLE: The compound of formula II. n USE: A molding material, composite material, adhesive, casting material, coating material, etc. n PROCESS: An organic isocyanate, e.g. methyl isocyanate or tetramethylene diisocyanate, is reacted with a compound of formula III in the presence or absence of an inert solvent, e.g. benzene, at 20W100°C, preferably 50W80°C, in the presence or absence of a catalyst, e.g. N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,3-butanediamine, to give the compound of formula I. The starting material compound of formula III is a novel substance and obtained by dealcoholizing a compound of formula IV (R' is alkyl) with a compound of formula V in a solvent, e.g. di-n-octyl phthalate, in the presence of a catalyst, e.g. p-toluenesulfonic acid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
