| abstract | PURPOSE:An external trim part for mechnical tools, having improved mechanical and thermal properties, capable of producing a hitting sound closely resembling that of metal, obtained by blending a polyalkyleneterephthalate with glass fibers and mica. CONSTITUTION:40-85wt% polyalkylene-terephthalate, preferably a polyethylene terephthalate having an intrisic viscosity not less than 0.5 is blended with 5-20wt% glass fibers and 10-40wt% of mica having meshes of 32-325, and injection molded. The partial substitution of a flexible thermoplastic resin for the polyalkylene terephthalate, preferably 3-10wt% substitution of a rubberlike polymer (especially one comprising 60-90wt% rubberlike ingredient) obtained by copolymerization of vinyl-based monomer) or poly (ester. ester) elastomer, improves further impact resistance. USE:A cover for sewing machine arm, body cover for motorized tools, cover for motorbike fender, especially aluminum diecast product substitute. |
