titleOfInvention | Emulsifier for manufacture of highly viscous aqueous emulsion |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain an emulsifier capable of forming emulsion having high viscosity and good standing stability from the copolymers of vinyl ester and/or alkyl(meth)acrylate and N-sulfoalkyl(meth)acrylamide. n CONSTITUTION: In an alcohol solvent, 80W90mol% vinyl ester and/or alkyl(meth)acrylate (component A) and 1W20mol% N-sulfoalkyl(meth)acrylamide of the formula (where R 1 is H or methyl group, R 2 is an alkylene group, and M is H or an alkali metal) are copolymerized to obtain an emulsifier. The emulsifier thus obtained is used in a proportion of approx. 1W8wt% on the basis of the whole of a polymerization system in usual cases. The emulsifier can provide highly-viscous emulsions having good mechanical stability, good standing stability, and good miscibility with pigments in particular when used in the homopolymerization or copolymerization of acrylic monomers. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
