abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain methacrolein in high yield, by the oxidation of isobutylene or t-butanol with O 2 , in the presence of a highly active catalyst, i.e. a Mo-Te system to which Ti, and further Fe and Ni, and then an element selected from Rb, Cs, Tl, etc. are added. n CONSTITUTION: Isobutylene or t-butanol is oxidized with molecular oxygen in the presence of a catalyst expressed by the formula (a-g are the numbers of moles based on 12 moles Mo; X is at least one element selected from Rb, Cs and Tl; Y is at least one element selected from Cu, Pb, Nd and Sm; a is 0.2W6; b is 0.2W6; and a+b is 1W10; c is 0.1W4; d is 0.1W3; f is 0.1W4; g is 0W5; h is the valences of the O atoms enough to satisfy the valences of others), to give methacrolein. n EFFECT: The high selectivity and the highly stable activity can be keept even after a long time. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
