titleOfInvention Preparation of 3,5-dichlorothiophenol
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for various kinds of industrial raw materials in a short time, by reacting 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene or 1-bromo-3,5-dichlorobenzene with a sulfide of an alkali metal in a solvent at specific temperature. n CONSTITUTION: 1,3,5-Trichlorobenzene or 1-bromo-3,5-dichlorobenzene or their mixture is reacted with a sulfide of an alkali metal (e.g., NaS, etc.) in a solvent, e.g., diethylene glycol, etc. at ≥150°C, preferably 150W240°C, to give 3,5-dichlorothiophenyl. To prevent formation of disulfides resulting from oxidation, the reaction is carried out in an inert atmosphere. n EFFECT: A sulfide of an alkali metal is obtainable economically readily. The desired compound can be obtained in a yield ≥70%. Specifically complicated reaction operation, reactor, etc. is not required. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
