titleOfInvention Benzamide derivative and herbicide comprising it
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A benzamide derivative shown by the formula (R is lower dialkylamino, N-alkylcyclohexylamino, etc. different one another). n EXAMPLE: 4-n-Butylmethylcarbamoyloxy-N-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)-benzamide. n USE: A highly selective herbicide. Suppressing the germination and growth of weeds, especially not only showing excellent controlling effects on gramineous weeds, Monochoria vaginalis Presl, etc. of the family Pontederiaceae, but also exhibiting growth-controlling effects on broadleaf weeds, e.g., long stemmed water-wort, etc. by soil treatment under flooding conditions. Having almost no phytotoxicity to transplanted rice plant. n PROCESS: 4-Hydroxy-N-(2,3-dichlorophenyl)-benzamide is reacted with various kinds of carbamoyl chlorides in the presence of an inorganic basic salt, etc., e.g., K 2 CO 3 , etc. in an organic solvent, e.g., acetone, etc., to give a compound shown by the formula. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
